Why should I do Pregnancy Pilates?

Why should I do Pregnancy Pilates?

  • Pilates is a powerful practice for improving posture as your body undergoes the changes of pregnancy, boosting your confidence and aligning your body to handle the demands of nurturing a baby.

  • By strengthening your lower body, Pilates helps you manage the increasing weight of your bump, allowing you to move effortlessly and reducing back and hip discomfort.

  • The focus on pelvic floor and abdominal strength supports your growing bump, promoting a stronger pregnancy experience, providing essential tools for labour, and aiding in postnatal recovery.

  • Pilates also releases tension in the upper body, enhancing mobility and reducing aches and pains.

  • My classes teach breathing techniques and visualisations for labour, empowering and instilling confidence for when the magical moment of giving birth arrives.

  • The mind-body connection in Pilates cultivates a calm mind and relaxed body, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after each class.

As you approach the end of your pregnancy, I will provide valuable tips and tools for your postnatal journey, ensuring a faster recovery and helping you feel amazing throughout the process.

What should I expect?

Classes are relaxed, fun and tailored to you and what you need. This isn't a time for challenging ourselves and aiming for personal bests, but it is a time for maintaining fitness and keeping our body strong and mobile as we navigate this exciting journey.

The class is made up of standing moves, mat based moves and is focussed on building overall body strength, pelvic floor and abdominal strength plus releasing any areas of tension and teaching techniques for labour and postnatal recovery. The session finishes with some relaxation and breathwork to send you off into your day feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

What do I need?

Just your lovely self and a mat if you have one - if you don't I have spares at the studio plus all the other equipment that we use in class. Gym balls, small Pilates balls, resistance bands, booty bands and light weights.

What if I can't make a class?

You're very welcome to join any of our other classes to make up the session or I can send you an online class to do at home.

Why should I do Pilates with you?

I'm a mum of two and have used Pilates through both of my (very different!) pregnancies and recoveries aswell as undertaking further extensive training in pre and post Pilates. I've taught pre and post natal Pilates for over 7 years and feel very blessed to support women on this amazing journey.

How do I get started?

Join our specific Mama to Be Pilates class here, if you're not local I have a great Pre Natal Pilates section on my Online Studio so you can workout at a time and location that suits you.

I can't wait for your to experience the transformative effects of Pilates and to support you on this amazing journey!
